Accommodations and directionsThe location for the next workshop has not been designated yet. You may however review the 2005 location as described below and assume that the next one will have comparable features. The 2005 workshop was less than two miles from the Spotsylvania Mall in Fredericksburg, VA. Because this 52-acre estate is a private home, the exact address is not being published on this web site. All registrants for the workshop will receive a physically mailed map and directions with the exact location. To get a general location you may click here. The estate is less than two miles from this location. If you do not have your own transportation, there will be a group van available from downtown Washington, DC for models and artists for an additional $15 round-trip. The van will only be making one circuit and will leave on-time, so don't be late. The DONMA workshop is approximately 55 miles or one hour south of Washington, DC. If you want to come to Fredericksburg early, or stay an extra day to go shopping at the big outlet mall, there is a long list of hotels available in the $50-75 per night range. Click here to search by category for local hotels. The Days Inn I understand is currently at $38.95. Basic camping is permitted on the estate for which you can pre-register. Those individuals who choose the overnight camping option for just $30 may enjoy the facilities such as the pool on Friday/Saturday evening and Sunday. There may be limited bunkhouse availability for overnight sleeping. There will be no workshop activities after 530pm on Saturday. |
Parking and Camping |
|
There is lawn parking available on-site at the estate for 100 cars. For anyone attending this workshop who wishes to quietly enjoy the facilities on Sunday themselves, there are campgrounds available on-site. You may bring a tent, small camper, or sleep under the stars. There is a primitive bunkhouse which may be available by special arrangement with the owner of the estate. Campfires are only permitted in the established fire pit near the main house. There are limited electrical hookups for campers. The town of Fredericksburg is only two miles from the estate, where there are many additional places to stay and to eat, and you may return the following day to enjoy the estate if you have paid for an overnight visit. |
